1st Foresight Conference: Present Needs Future Options

On 2 and 3 December 2004 the COS together with the ERA Net Forsociety and the DG research of the European Commission organized a conference which explored potential themes and issues for foresight cooperation together with some important stakeholder like Parliamentarians and research financing bodies. During the conference the ERANet Forsociety was presented to a wider international audience. Attention was paid to some recent EU-foresight activities like the upcoming concept of converging technologies and the blueprints for transnational regional foresight.

Location: The conference took place in the Royal Institute for Engineering Science of the Netherlands (KIVI) The Hague and the nieuwe Litteraire Societeit De Witte and was closed by the Minister of Education, Science and Culture of the Netherlands Maria van der Hoeven in the presence of the dr. Paraskevas Caracostas on behalf of the Director General for Research of the European Union.

2nd Foresight Conference: Ways to European Future - A Dialogue between Policy Makers and Foresight Practitioners

The Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic in cooperation with Technology Centre AS CR organized a conference "Ways to European Future - A Dialogue between Policy Makers and Foresight Practitioners" on 11-12 May 2006 in Prague, Czech Republic. The conference was organized within the ForSociety ERA-NET which is focused on coordinating national foresight exercises.

Location: The conference took place in the premises of the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic, Prague Karmelitska 7, Prague 1 (Mala Strana)
