ERA: Transnational Foresight as a Policy Planning Tool

The Policy Conference is organized by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Greek Ministry of Development and the Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET), as coordinators of the Project and brings up the latest news in the concept of Foresight, as a transnational policy making exercise among several government authorities and R+D partners. ForSociety ERA-Net has been a sustainable and dynamic network, where national Foresight Programme Managers co-ordinate their activities, in order to develop efficient trans-national foresight programmes.

This 3rd and final Policy Dialogue Conference of the Project will bring together more than 140 stakeholders involved with the National and Transnational Foresight exercises, policy makers, policy planners and Members of the Parliament around Europe, representing all actors with important activity in the area of Foresight in Europe.

By virtue of the participants' influential positions and in view of their implicit interest in the domain of foresight, the Policy Dialogue Conference will play a key role in ensuring the success of the ForSociety ERA-Net Project, by raising awareness among the stakeholders and by maintaining the commitment of the national governments to the strategic objectives of the network. Involving the decision-makers in such a platform will also help better appreciation of the role of foresight in research policy making and priority setting.

Featured Speakers include EPTA Members, EU Commission Officers, National government foresight authorities, Members of European Parliament, Foresight academics and practitioners. Other Speakers will be announced shortly.

The event will take place in the central Ministry of Development Assembly Hall and will be accompanied by an Informal Get Together Evening Cocktail on November 25, 2007 (Starting time 20.00) and a Dinner Gala reception in a fabulous Greek Restaurant in downtown Athens at the end of the first day (Monday Nov. 26, 2007) starting 20.00. There is no fee for attending the Conference. However, as place is limited, you are most kindly requested to register early enough to ensure your participation.
